Hasse Thanks Voters as She Sails to Second Term
Election night returns show that Carol Hasse, capturing 88.2% of the vote, has won a second term to the Port of Port Townsend Commission. Updated vote counts can be found at https://results.vote.wa.gov/results/20251104/jefferson/.
“I want to thank Jefferson County voters,” said Hasse. “I’ve found such satisfaction and purpose in the work of the Port, and I look forward to being part of the progress in the next four years.”
Throughout the campaign, Hasse stressed five priorities for the Port of Port Townsend: environmental protection, historic preservation, economic growth, educational opportunities and recreational access.
“I also want to thank my supporters, of course.” Hasse added. ‘I’m deeply grateful to them. And I want to thank my opponent, Clayborn Burleson. The campaign drew attention to important issues facing Jefferson County.”
The Port’s impact on the region’s economy is enormous; today the marine trades support fully one in five jobs in Jefferson County. And for nearly half a century, Hasse has been a key contributor to the renaissance of Port Townsend’s world-class, working water front and its international renown as a creative center of maritime expertise and education.
Going forward, Hasse sees a role for the Port in tackling broader concerns. Collaborating with municipal, tribal, and other public and private partners, the Port can address urgent issues facing the region, such as workforce housing, food security, climate-change resiliency.
Facilities owned and operated by the Port include:
• Boat Haven and Point Hudson Marinas in Port Townsend,
• the Herb Beck Marina in Quilcene,
• the marine-trades facilities at the Boat Haven boat yard,
• Short’s Family Farm,
• Jefferson County International Airport,
• and boat launches at Gardiner, Mats-Mats Bay and Port Hadlock.
